Lyndsay Stafford welcomes Vance Hester, owner of Connection Bookkeeping, to discuss how accurate, consistent bookkeeping can help small business owners understand their finances and make better…
Um, so tell me a little bit about, tell our listeners what's the difference between bookkeeping and accounting-
Um, you know, accounting is the term that's kind of the overall, you know, uh, uh, overall, uh, umbrella in, you know, in financ- finances and, and numbers.
Um, bookkeeping is your, your categorization of transactions, your reconciling, uh, uh, of accounts.
Um, if those are, uh, you know, out of whack, incorrect, um, just plain wrong, uh, the foundation's gonna be shaky.
But, um, you know, yes, there's value in having ac- ac- accurate financials from the tax perspective.
But the real value, accurate financials, it comes from being able to, you know, have your, uh, your finger on the pulse of your business and, you know, make better decisions.
If you ha- you know, if everybody knows the term garbage in, garbage out, if, if you're making decisions with garbage financials, you're gonna make wrong, wrong decisions.
And I, I wanna also expand on that a little bit because the relationship, I was very honest from the beginning with you and with our CPA that we partner with, that I want this to be a partnership between all of us.
