What's Taters?? - A SMEGL Podcast
Aug 17, 2026 · 44 min · 9 segments
The first **SMEGL Cup** is over, and the real story is not just who won - it's how six states, four-player teams, and a brand-new format changed the way everyone approached the game. **Tyler** sits…
Man, Sawyer's gonna have such an inflated ego.
No, I'm kidding.
[laughs] He's too nice.
No, those are...
Those are some great stories.
I mean, yeah, it is, it is Sméagol.
I'm not surprised to hear so many good and positive interactions you had with the people you were playing games with.
On that note, we will look forward to next year.
So now that you've done it once, what would you like to do different next year? What, uh, if you could give next year's team some advice in, in the event maybe perhaps you're, you're not on it, what would it be? And, uh, what are your, some of your hopes for changes to the event as, as it continues to grow and improve?

'Cause it really is, like David said, we really are here playing with friends, and so, um, there's no reason to get a ton of pressure on yourself.
So just bring what you want, play what you want, and have a good time, 'cause your, your skill with the game will far outshine any meta lists that you're gonna bring.
And then hopes for next year, I was, I was quite happy with the event and how it turned out.
I, I thought it was as good as it could be.
Honestly, I had a grand time, and yeah, looking forward to next year.
Well, you know, this was the first time this event occurred, and so I think for the, for the first time of it occurring, I, I, I think I- I'm with Tim.
It, it really ran really well.
If there was anything I would change, it, it would be more of the, of the culture going into the event because the idea of, of the event, uh, for...
