09-18-26: Interview with Krista Bundt: South Central Calhoun Volleyball

So we'll start with last weekend.

You guys hosted your second tournament of the season here, playing a bunch of good opponents.

Talk about what you felt like that tournament kind of had for you.

Yeah, so that tournament, we knew going into that one, you just look at the teams that are coming to that tournament, And we knew we would definitely have our hands full, which we did.

We came away with one win against Boyer, and then the rest we fell to.

But I would honestly say that was pretty much when I look at, you know, just stats and how opponents have been playing and how we're playing, I would say that it was expected, that outcome.

Yeah.

Do you feel like that makes the girls better, though, when you play, you know, those big schools playing winter sets, Carroll, Kemper, Ridgeview, those bigger schools?

Absolutely, yes.

You know, I think any time that you have an opponent that is stronger or quicker or, you know, whatever the situation there may be, to take any of those as an opportunity to learn and and to really expose where maybe you need to spend more time practicing or where your weaknesses are.

You know, I think that those are valuable experiences, 100%.

And

talk about that win over Booyah Valley and kind of what you felt like the girls did well to pick up that win.

Yeah, so what's interesting about this team is truly, I would say we're getting to the point where we don't play – a whole lot different if we have a tough competitor or we have a competitor that we know maybe we have a chance to win, which I think is really good in the sense of just consistency, mental resiliency, just that we're able to put the same team out there.

Now, again, there are going to be just the general inconsistencies of a game.

That is just the nature of volleyball.

It really is a game of minimizing errors.

So you're always going to have some of that.

But I feel like when we played Boyer, we were playing the same way as when we played the tougher teams as well.

It's just you're able, again, to accomplish some things when you're with similar competition versus competition that maybe has more hitters than you do or stronger hitters or those types of things.
