Luke talks with Evan Basalyga and Defensive Coordinator Kevin MacNeill about the tough week of practice, facing Queens, and the upcoming game vs Windsor.

Okay, we are here in the players-only section with Evan Basiliga, fifth-year wide receiver, H-back from Thunder Bay, who's studying arts and business with a major in economics.

All right, so now I know it was a emotional week for everybody on the team, obviously with the situation, losing a teammate, not something anybody should ever have to go through.

So I want to start by saying, you know, I hope you and the boys are doing okay as you work through this tragic event.

But, you know, Evan, before we get into Queens in the game itself, you know, let's go back to the offseason.

What was that experience like and how was it, you know, being able to talk to multiple CFL teams and be in the mix there with the best players in all of Canada?

It was really cool just, like, getting to see, like, all these teams and coaches and people from the different teams, like, in person.

And, like, you see these people on TV, but then all of a sudden you're in a room with them in an interview talking to them, and they're just regular people, and you're talking about football and stuff.

And then, yeah, getting to go to Edmonton and just perform in front of them obviously was an excellent opportunity and really something I was really thankful for.

Yeah, and I think you did really well with some of the numbers you put up, and I heard lots of great things, so congrats on that.

All right, so if we go to the Queen's game, Evan, we put up 22 points, over 400 yards, total offense.

When you watch that film and break that down with Coach Conway and Coach Burt, what do you think led us to being able to do so well on that side of the ball, really, against a great defense like Queen's?

um yeah i think that we just uh we were just like we honestly we didn't even do as well as we could have done like we made a couple mistakes in some areas that if we hadn't done that then we could easily put up like 40 points out there so there was just some things that we left on the table but i feel like like our pass protection has been really good this year we gave nick a clean pocket and then as receivers we were just I was just calling the right plays to scheme us up and get us open.

So I thought we did pretty good as an offense, but there's still a lot left out there.
