July 19, 2026 - Knowing God

So making sure that we are all on the same page, we're in week two of our Experiencing God series.

Last week, we talked about seeking God, about asking, seeking, and knocking, and we used that familiar scripture as our guide.

And how that practice, asking, seeking, and knocking, is the way to understand God, the way that we can come to understand God and to more fully experience God.

And so we come asking, and that is coming to God in a spirit of humility, acknowledging our need for God and asking for help, even though sometimes it's hard.

That seeking

is a response.

It's a response and a responsibility, and that seeking is actively pursuing God and God's will.

And then knocking is that persistence.

It's taking one step of faith that reflects what we've heard from God and reminds us not to give up in our pursuit of understanding.

And so we know that when we seek God, we will come to know God because God longs to be known.

God longs to be known and to be found because God desires relationship with us.

But our understanding is terribly limited, if not for scripture, right? Because that's where we learn about God throughout history, throughout generations, thousands of years, and where we learn of Christ's example, God with us.

So I went to the source and used some resources, and I came up with at least 43 ways to where scripture helps us with that understanding, shows us who God has been, who God is, and who we can have faith God will continue to be.

And I acknowledge that this is not the deep dive, okay? 43 is really scratching the surface, so let's just all be clear about that.

But I'm starting with 43, right? That's pretty significant.

And so I'm sure we could spend much more time and find probably hundreds of other examples, but here we go.

Melanie, are you ready? Here she goes.
