Send us Fan Mail In the first message of the **Speak Life** series, Pastor Ashley reminds us that our words carry far more power than we often…
So we begin this morning, I want to tell you a story about Ethel and her husband.
Ethel's husband found himself in the hospital.
Thankfully, it was not a critical visit to the hospital.
It was just one of those where they got to figure some things out, get him better, back in shape.
And so they were sitting there, anxiety was low.
So just passing the time, talking, doing what you do when you're hanging out with somebody in the hospital.
And Since it was one of those easier moments, they were just chatting and reflecting and looking back.
And so as they're doing that, Ethel's husband looks over at her and grabs her hand.
And as he looks at her and is holding her hand, he says, Ethel, you've been with me all of these years.
I remember that one time I was sick in the Veterans Hospital all of those years ago, and you were there.
You were with me.
Ethel says, yes, dear, I was there.
Then he says, and Ethel, I remember when our house burned down and how awful that was, and you were there.
You were right there with me.
We lost everything, but we had each other.
You were there with me.
Ethel says, yes, dear, I was there.
Then he says, all of those years, Ethel, when we were young and poor and poor, We're struggling.
You were there.
As we've gone through life, you have been with me.
She says, yes, dear, I was with you.
And then he says, and here we are in the hospital again, and you are here with me.
She said, yes, dear,
I'm with you.
Then he looks at her very intently, and he says, Ethel, I tell you, You're bad luck.
