Her career began when she won the premier Grand Prix of the first Marie-Laure Jacques Thibault competition in 1943, followed by a recording of Haydn's first concerto conducted by her teacher, Jacques Thibault.
Two years later, she was awarded first prize at the Concours International de Genève.
And with that, the international solo career of Michel Auclair was launched.
She started lessons by the age of four with Lynne Talouane, who is known to send her students on to Jules Boucherie's studio at the Conservatoire de Paris.
And in her early teens, that is exactly where Eau Claire went.
Boucherie, who studied at the conservatoire under Jules Garcin, gave her the discipline of a studio that turned out soloist after soloist.
But she was not only in his studio.
She also studied with Boris Kaminsky, who brought Auer and Joachim into the mix.
And lessons with Jacques Thibault brought in a third stream, descending from Marsick and Massard.
Three teachers, three lineages, all of them feeding into Michel Auclair.
