Mala MalsteadHostAt 8pm on July 10th, 2025, our Freedom Firm team received intel that 17-year-old Jamini from Bangladesh was being sexually exploited in the red-light area, Budapest, Pune.
The team received intel that she would be moved out of the state again.
Any delay could result in losing Jamini and in her continuing to be sexually exploited.
So the team quickly made arrangements and met the local police that same night and started to search for Jamini in her last known location.
They were unable to cover much ground due to a lack of sufficient manpower and had to end the search unsuccessfully that night.
The next morning, at 7.30am, the team received a rough location of where Jamini was being held.
Our team continued scoping out the area, and the police conducted an extensive search.
When residents nearby were asked if they had seen or heard anything about a young Bangladeshi girl in their neighbourhood...
One person shared some vital information on Jamini's location.
When the team proceeded to the particular apartment, the door was locked.
The police and our team could hear faint noises inside, but whoever was present would not respond to our calls.
The police finally broke the lock and entered the apartment.
There were three women and two girls sitting in the living room.
When asked about Jamini, no one responded.
The search continued, however Jamini was not in any of the rooms.
When the police went to the bathroom, they finally found Jamini crammed in a loft space above the bathroom.
On July 11th at 9.05am, our team rescued Jamini.
Tara, who had trafficked Jamini, was one of the women sitting in the living room.
Tara was also the person who had crammed Jamini into the loft.
When the police asked who locked them inside the apartment, they said a man named Abhay.
After 15 minutes, Abhay returned to the apartment and the police arrested him.
The police collected evidence from the apartment and completed their report after which Jamini, Abhay, Tara and our team went to the police station.
At the police station, Jamini shared her statement with the police.
