THE DAY DAVID REFUSED TO QUIT | PAUL DAUGHERTY | PSALMS OF DAVID PT. 6

Psalm 56, we've been in a series called the Psalms of David and we've been looking at these songs that David wrote during some of the hardest seasons of his life.

Some of his greatest albums were produced during his worst seasons.

And that's what God does.

God turns your worst seasons into your best songs.

And from those songs, he leads you out of those bad days into some better days.

And that's where David was writing this.

Psalm 56, verse three, he says, but when I am afraid In other words, I'm gonna get afraid.

I'm gonna have seasons and times where I feel overwhelmed, discouraged, anxious, stressed.

How many of y'all get afraid sometimes? Yeah, let's be honest.

You could take the church mask off for a moment.

You can admit sometimes you feel afraid.

Being afraid is not a sin.

It's what you do with that fear.

It's if you let that fear dominate you.

It's if you let that fear stay inside you and drive you to places that lead to sin.

But David said, when I am afraid, when fear shows up in my life, when I feel anxious and stressed, I will put my trust in you.

The answer, the solution to David's fear was not fixing the circumstance or fixing the problem.

It was fixing his trust.

Because here's the key, you may not get your circumstance changed immediately, but you can get your attitude changed immediately.

You can get your heart changed.

David was saying, I'm gonna change on the inside before things change on the outside.

I'm gonna dominate this fear instead of letting fear dominate me by putting my trust in God.
