Dianne ArmstrongGuestChristie SkutnikHostBut like they, there's like a shadow you cast, right? It's like the shadow of a leader and they only rise to the level of how you're showing up.
Like, because at some point they will become conditioned to show up a different way if you're showing up a different way.

And this is actually, this is so crazy, Christy, but what research is showing us is that your brain's actually can cause coherence or lack of coherence with each other.

Honestly, they're still trying to figure it out, but they do a lot of like, we have so much information now about how our, you know, we're able to watch the brain work through all kinds of technologies that we have now.

So we can actually see like how the energy and conversation between two people can either, they can bring each other to coherence or they can bring each other to dissonance.

So we have to be really aware of this, like, especially when we're dealing with our own kids or with like our spouse or significant other or whatever, like we, we create waves of either dissonance or, or coherence.

And what are we going to do? Like, who are we going to be in the world? A lot of this, and this is the hardest part, we have to pay attention to ourselves and we have to be like that self-awareness.

I'm talking about like, where am I? What kind of state of being am I in? Am I in the green zone? Am I out of the green zone? If I'm out of the green zone, what do I want to do about it? Am I just going to keep wreaking havoc for everybody? Or am I going to like bring myself down, take a walk, you know, change my breathing and Go and get a cup of tea or coffee and listen to music for a few minutes.

In the somatic therapy space, there's thousands of things we can do to help regulate ourselves.

Okay, so somatic regulation is really, it's kind of the nervous system regulation that I'm talking about.

It's really using techniques to, first of all, be aware of when you are not in regulation.

Breathing shallowly, do I feel actually constriction in my body? So it's really paying, that's why the word somatic is body, but like paying attention to how you're physically manifesting the emotions and the energy and just the stress and the stories in your head, they get encoded in your body.

They get encoded moment by moment and they get encoded year by year by year.

So a lot of somatic therapists, the work that they do with people is to really help them kind of unwind, you know, issues, traumas, negative experiences that people have had that have actually been encoded in their body as like a shoulder that's stuck or lower back pain or a million other things that are really about emotional experiences that people have had that their body kind of encoded, right? So what somatic therapy does and somatic coaching techniques, which I'm certified in, is we'll actually like, hey, let's pay attention.
