... fair question from somebody who sounds like, you know, they are not a full-time coach.
It's a passion project, and now they are running up into what's going to be an actual, like, you know, uh, legal requirement if you wanna get out there and coach, you have to be- make sure that you're keeping yourself current, and he finds himself in a bit of a pickle.
And so OJT, walking in there and coaching, diving into the journals, trying to make yourself the best that you can on your own dime, on your own time, versus swiping the Visa card and going somewhere, and so he's stuck in the middle.
Man, that's a great question, and I think that there's probably quite a few people that are in that circumstance where, you know, hey, they wanna be as professional as they can, but it's not what's paying the bills.
And I would say the first thing that jumped to my mind when I was thinking about this was, okay, if we can assume that Mark is not doing this as like the primary thing that's paying his mortgage, let's say, maybe it would be more valuable to both him and whoever is running this facility for him to remain credentialed.
Then maybe the conversation is like, "Hey, I don't really care about the 20 bucks you're keeping down.
Can we subsidize my continuing education instead?" And maybe that's something that would be valuable to this gym-
... is the knowledge that we have somebody that at a moment's notice or as needed can step in and, yeah, maybe they're not gonna be a full-time coach.
That's not the arrangement that we're after from either party, but we know that this person's not only reliable, but externally validated by maintaining this high standard.
That might be something that's valuable to that facility, but unless you have that conversation, you're never gonna know.
So that might be the first approach is like, "Hey man, is it more worth it to you to keep this 25 bucks in your pocket every now and again?" Or whatever your rate is and however-
Uh, maybe the conversation is like, "Hey Jim, can you guys provision to subsidize my continuing ed so that that benefits all of us?" Um, something to think about.
