Welcome to a special edition of Untangle, Meditation Mondays. We’re taking this time to share meditations from our sister app, Meditation Studio. We know that life gets messy and, when it does…
Let's take a moment to settle the body in.
Maybe you are comfortably sitting.
Maybe you are lying down.
Just invite your eyelids to gently close.
And I wonder what you might notice about the rhythm of your own natural
in this moment.
Maybe it's fast from the day and the activities.
Maybe it's already slowing down.
Maybe it's long and slow and deep.
What do you observe? Could you notice the way it fills the front side and back body as your lungs expand on the inhale? Could you notice how all of that releases on
Could you become aware of the temperature of the air as you draw it into the body and back out again? Bring your breath deeper.
Could it start in the belly? Could it expand your full torso? Could you breathe into your lower back? Could you soften all of that on the exhale? Your breath breathes itself and its speed and flow creates the rhythms in your body.
And as you invite your breath to slow down, I wonder what rhythm that might create in you.
Could your body begin to mold itself around your deepening breath? Maybe there's a spreading or a melting or a softening.
Maybe there is a release or a yielding as your breath deepens.
And as your breath deepens itself, it invites sleep and rest and relaxation.
It is entrained to sleep, rest, and relaxation the deeper it gets.
the slower it gets.
And inch by inch, your deepening breath can remind your body of its effortless relationship with sleep.
what would it be like to imagine your breath traveling so deep that it fills your toes on the inhale could each toe draw your awareness maybe you notice sensation or softening and on the exhale could each toe melt or soften or warm into a wave of in and out breath.
If sleep could be a color, a texture, a vibration that calms and soothes, what color would that be? And could it travel on your breath to fill your toes on the inhale, allowing them to soften even more on the exhale? Could the full expanse of your next inhale fill your feet, the ball of the foot, the arch, all the way to the heel and the ankle? Could the full exhale invite that color, that vibration of sleep to soften the feet? perhaps warming or calming.
I wonder what you might be able to let go of in your feet so that your breath can deepen.
What if you could invite the color, the vibration of sleep to flow into the ankles on the inhale and soften the ankles on the exhale.
