In this episode, Kara sits down with 21-year-old Canadian actress Miku Martineau, who just had Crew Girl drop on Netflix and is currently leading Bet Season 2. Miku talks about playing 2 completely different characters on the same platform, growing up half-Japanese, booking her first-ever role in Kate at 13 with no acting experience, playing young Michelle Yeoh in Star Trek: Section 31, being number 1 on the call sheet at 21, and why her love of side quests keeps her grounded. Miku Martineau is a rising Japanese-Canadian actress set to lead the upcoming Netflix series, “Crew Girl,” which is slated to release on the streaming platform on September 10, 2026. The coming-of-age drama follows 'Teagan Tao’ (Martineau), who becomes the coxswain of a dysfunctional all-boys rowing team at an elite East Coast Prep School. The series promises warring rivals, messy romantic engagements, and betrayed friendships that spill drama both in and out of the boat. Currently, Martineau is in production on season two of the Netflix psychological revenge thriller, “BET,” reprising her leading role as ‘Yumeko.’ Following its premiere in May 2025, the series saw viewership surge by 110% between its first and second weeks of release. Martineau first gained recognition starring opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson in her debut project, “Kate," the Netflix action thriller where she played the sharp and emotionally grounded ‘Ani.’ Since then, she has quickly emerged as one of Hollywood’s most exciting young talents, continuing to expand her work across film and television with roles in "Honor Society” opposite Angourie Rice and Gaten Matarazzo, "Star Trek: Section 31" opposite Michelle Yeoh, and most recently “The Miniature Wife” opposite Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfayden.
