There is so much pressure in our world to dim the light that God has placed on the inside of us, to shrink, to blend in.

Social media tells us that there's a specific way to look, a certain way to talk, or act in order to be accepted.

I want to ask you today, have you been hiding your light? I want to get real with you for a second.

But when he started to stir in me specifically to start discipling teens around 2011, I ran the other direction.

First, I hid behind becoming a health coach for teens because coaching nutrition felt so much safer to me than discipling.

Then in 2015, I switched gears completely and started coaching moms of teens instead because I was terrified that if I actually worked with teens directly, they would see me as a nobody.

I mean, who was I to speak into their life? Then in 2017, God started stirring in me again, and this time it was undeniable.

He wanted me to work with Christian teen girls, and I had every excuse ready.

I couldn't understand how somebody who wasn't even a Christian through most of their teen years would be called to work with Christian teens.

And he told me, it's not even you doing this, but it's me, God, doing it through you.

It's not your ability, but are you available for me to use? And even those words were not enough to get me past that fear.
