Nicole Bivens CollinsonHostI'm Nicole Bivens Collinson, a Managing Principal and Operating Committee member at Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg.
A foreign ministers meeting follows in Atlanta in October, and President Trump will host the December summit at his Doral resort in Miami, and he's already invited Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Despite the calls to remove Russia after its 2022 invasion of Ukraine, it does remain a member.
So, what should we expect in Milwaukee? Greer appears to be playing host, emcee, and tour guide with local stops and factory visits on the itinerary.
His speeches are expected to target forced labor and global supply chains, rethinking the most favored nation principle, condemning the weaponization of food trade, and confronting structural overcapacity.
India's Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is also attending.
In February, the U.S. and India announced a reciprocal trade agreement described as 90% complete, but it still has not been finalized.
Negotiated under the duress of the illegal IEPA tariffs, the deal was supposed to give India a tariff edge over competing exporters.
And that could make India's negotiating advantage decidedly more ephemeral.
So we'll keep an eye on Milwaukee and we'll let you know whether the meeting proceeds to produce real movement, carefully worded ambiguity, or something in between.
