episode 294 of the two book watch house podcast do movies and tv shows sell watches so we've talked about movies and different media and things like that and watches and you see actors or characters wearing certain watches and things like that but um michael and i were talking the other day and it's this idea of like have you ever seen a watch on tv or in a movie that's actually made you want to be like oh fuck what is he wearing i want to so many times research the watch or you research the brand and you end up in like a reddit thread where someone's just like uh at at scene 4 minute 25 in the bathroom mirror it reflects and i'm fairly certain it's a rolex sub 16 is like god damn get a fucking spouse or a job or something dude holy shit
and i will pause it and tell my wife like oh look it's that that thing right that's a whatever whatever
she's on her phone like yeah that's great that's
okay great honey that's
great
that's cool
She's doing the, oh, oh, oh, wow.
Oh, wow.
But I do this way too much, probably more than I like to admit.
And there are whole websites dedicated to this now, as I'm sure you've seen as you prepare for this.
Because a lot of people's entry points into watches is...
They love a movie.
They love a character.
You want to do everything.
You want to know what brand of clothing that character wears.
You want to know what kind of bourbon John Wick drinks.
You want to learn every single thing about that person because you're like, oh, I love that movie.
I want to try to channel that.
as much as i can it's it's also it's also why they do that it's why they give these characters recognizable brand placements or or in a couple of these instances they're not gonna be very recognizable i think they're more character driven than anything else at least on my side but it's just i've totally done it i i've i've 100 done it um but i think the idea is interesting to just kind of uh i don't know just spend some time chatting through especially some ones that like surprised me because there's there's the typical ones we're obviously going to be talking about omega and bond i think uh especially with my wrist check like it's going to come up you know what i
mean it's probably i think probably the most successful product placement watch cinema partnership in history i think i don't think any other especially with has done it better than omega
I mean, it's also not anymore on the nose in Casino Royale when they're in the train and she's trying to like peg him as the kind of guy he is.
And he's like, I bet you're worried.
He goes, Omega.
She goes, beautiful.
