It started, the first Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony was held on March 31st, 1981, in John J.B. Wilson's living room in Hollywood to honor the perceived worst films of the 1980 film season.

Yeah, so it was basically like a dude was like, I'm going to make my own little anti-academy awards.
Yeah.
It became popular enough that it started to become bigger and held ceremonies.
