Two and a Mic - The Social Podcast

This poem takes aim at a system that has allowed billionaires to thrive. They influence international politics, bend long established principles and legal systems to their will while allowing billions…
I want to see people whose laugh lines I know so well because I watched them emerge, when the crow's feet could no longer fully encompass the emotions they felt, reconnecting with friends from way back when.
Hands on my head, strip down the changes, take time out of the equations.
Be the person inside that I have always been, but who life has found a way to hide away.
Not the natural life.
That died out long ago.
No, no, I mean the life of modern people.
The life where dreams crush us.
Where happiness is an extra.
It absolutely does not come with the package.
It's a subscription model.
Nothing worth having is a one-off payment nowadays.
We have to feed the program.
Because the program calls the shots.
And there's nothing without the program.
Not for us looking up.
Mirrored ceilings that reflect angry faces not our own.
And so they set the stage.
The whole damn stage is a set up.
Do you remember even who we used to be? That person who so rarely comes out to play anymore.
Hidden persons, our younger selves.
Trapped in bodies we stopped shaping.
They are who we were before the expectations kicked in.
The ones who looked forward to the next day and counted time like it was something that held us back because we couldn't wait.
We counted sleeps back then.
Those persons are the untainted pureness that life attaches itself to.
