Now it's your turn, Ariane, says Nadia.
Ariane goes behind the folding screen.
She has decided to take inspiration from the scene in Striptease, released in 1965 in the USA as Sweet Skin, directed by Jacques Poitrineau, where Ariane, played by Nico, performs a partial striptease in Maxim's nightclub to the music of Crazy Horse Swing by Serge Gainsborough and Alan Goagoa.
The packed audience includes a Playboy boyfriend, Jean-Lou, who the previous evening had humiliated her by asking her hand in marriage in front of his wealthy upper-class family before showing them photos of Ariane as a stripper.
Ariane takes revenge on Jean-Lou by dispossessing herself of his extravagant gifts.
The lights dim.
Diamonds, pearls, sapphires, shining rubies, vain ornaments of the flesh.
Behold, Ariane.
The curtains pull back to reveal Ariane in the semi-darkness.
Crazy horse swing starts to play.
The lights fade up.
Ariane is standing half turned, looking down at herself in the folding mirror screen.
wearing a white mink knee-length coat and silver high-heeled shoes.
Her natural blonde hair is piled up in a high updo, setting off a pair of diamond earrings.
Ariane turns towards the audience, walks backwards and forwards, advances, hands holding the mink coat, turns, walks back to the screen, and then, as she turns sharply away from the audience, pulls back the coat in a dramatic gesture.
to reveal a black knee-length dress with lace frill and chiffon long sleeves.
Pinned between her breasts is a diamond flower brooch with six petals and a stem with three leaves set with diamonds, and around her neck, a diamond collier.
She lets the mink fall to the floor, and holding it in her right hand, trails it along the stage as she walks back and forth.
She then hangs the coat on one of the mirror panels raises her hands in front of her face, and performs dance movements with her arms half bent.
Bringing her hands to her face, she removes her earrings one by one, walks to the front of the stage, and drops them in Jean-Lou's lap, who looks up at her astonished.
Ariane walks to the back of the stage, reaches behind her neck, and takes off the collier.
She shakes it in front of her face, dancing from side to side, advances, and lowers the collier slowly in front of his face and drops it.
Looking at Jean-Luc, she removes the gold bracelet from her left wrist and a gold ring from her right ring finger, advances and throws them at him.
She stares regretfully at the brooch, removes it, looking directly at Jean-Luc, caresses the brooch, then lets it fall into his lap.
Humiliated publicly, he leaves.
