Hello and welcome back to the Triple T Pod.
Today we're talking about predatory towing, because apparently, even after a truck stops moving, the bills can keep accelerating.
Picture this.
A carrier has a breakdown or incident.
The first priorities are obvious.
Keep people safe, clear the roads, protect the cargo, and get moving again.
Then comes the invoice, extra equipment, mystery labor, inflated storage, or charges that just don't pass the smell test.
In some cases, we're talking about tow bills north of $150,000, cargo held up while customers are waiting, and motor carriers trying to figure out whether to pay the ransom or fight.
To help sort this all out, we've pulled together a great panel.
We've got Dan Murray from Atri, whose research gives the industry real benchmarks for what's reasonable and what's excessive.
Prasad Sharma from the Scopolitis Law Firm, who explains the legal leverage and state-by-state complexity.
Ben Greenberg, president and CEO of the North Carolina Trucking Association, who's been on the front lines of reform, and John Biblis from True North, bringing the insurance and claims perspective.
It's a conversation about bad actors, good towers, state reform, insurance strategy, and what carriers need to know before the next invoice shows up.
Don't miss it.
