Ep 26.7: Scouting Kentucky! Will Stein’s Sugar Huddle & Jay Bateman's 4-2-5

So I'm going to jump into Kentucky's defense.

They're based out of a 4-2-5, which is what everybody's based out of.

The D.C., obviously, everybody should know.

It's Bateman.

He spent the last two years here as the D.C. Seth, why don't you pull up that first clip because I think he caught something while he was here for two years.

If you look at that D end right there at the end, watch what this guy does, and it's something we've talked about A&M's defense doing the last couple years.

Oh, we thought he was coming, but he almost got a pick.

I remember last year.

Actually, I'll be honest.

I remember last year complaining about dropping Cassius Howe into coverage.

Like, what are we doing? That's our best, you know.

Pressure guy, and we're dropping him into coverage.

So you can see Bateman, his defense isn't exactly like Elko's, but he definitely has some Elko folds to it.

So their defense, now this is hard because it's only going off two games.

They played a nobody game one, played Bama last week.

They're average giving it up about 220 yards through the air, about just over 100 yards on the ground.

Of course, last week, Bama got them for 155 on the ground.

And if you watch that game, it was 150 in the second half.

They only had five yards rushing in the first half, came out second half and put 150 on them in a half.

So they have forced four turnovers so far this year.

Three of them, excuse me, were against Bama.

um and they got to Bama for four sacks last game and I'll say they they got after Bama's O-line quite a bit last game uh yeah um I think that's why Bama had to start just leaning on the run game because they had a hard time blocking them up front in the pass down so um giving up 29 points a game of course they gave up 45 to Bama one of those was a pick six so it's really 38 but All right, you go that first slide.

Their defensive line impressed me watching them.

Like I said, they got after Bama's O-line.

Of course, Bama had a problem with their O-line last year, so I'm wondering if that's a reoccurring theme for Bama.
