But what exists out there from a standards and best practices perspective about black specs? Like, is there anything out there to help as you navigate what to do?
The standards and guidelines that are out there, again, point to having a visually clean surface.
It's not necessarily, and I know later on there'll be guests that'll talk about the science and the sterilization, so we don't need to get into that.
that spec can do and what it can be introduced, right? And that's where the scary infections can happen, right? That's why I'm, you know, I have such a passion about, you know, getting this figured out and helping them, you know, get down to it.
Because at the end, you don't want to see that in a patient, right? And the, you know, again, the ANSI-AMI standards, as I mentioned earlier, are sort of the governing guidelines and principles of what we're looking to follow to adopt processes that protect our patients.
And so that patient risk conversation is another really big one in this topic because that's the first question often that gets asked.
Sterile processing, is this sterile? Is it safe? And I mean, who can answer that question? It's like, what is this stuff and is it dangerous to our patients? And so, yeah, that question around, you know, debris in a patient, debris in a tray or on instruments, and whether or not that impacts the sterility of the device and the risk to the patient.
Looking forward to diving into that further, but certainly a big question that gets asked.
Any insight you want to lend towards that as we kind of dive deeper throughout the series on how to determine what the risk looks like?
You know, it carries patient, it carries operational, it carries trust risks.
You've got potential foreign body contamination, inflammatory responses from that surgical site infections.
