It's Friday the 7th of August and in this week's episode we know about the proposal by Iran or in fact is trying to enforce it for setting tolls for shipping to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in and out of the Gulf.

But now there are considerations that such an issue may spread to other choke points around the world and other conflict areas.

I've invited the ICS Secretary General Thomas Kazakos to come in and discuss a letter that they sent to the IMO Secretary General and the UN Secretary General expressing their concern about this development.

It's coalescing its Arctic information into one portal to enable its shipping industry to safely access the far north and in particular the Northern Sea Route.

My colleague Huaqing Ma will join me to discuss the implications of that on global shipping.
