Tonight, this kind of came up in coaching and working with drivers and thoughts that were brewing with me.
not all summer, but for a big part of summer.
So the longer I coach, the more I'm getting more involved with, um, debriefs from events and then training regiments.
To be able to work with drivers kind of on a consistent basis between events and then preparation before events.
Yep.
Like people doing pushups and burpees and getting in shape and drinking protein shakes and things.
Yeah, I mean, admittedly, the whole like physical training and nutritional things, not really my gig.
There's like a few basic things I can tell you.
But no, just like in terms of sim work, vision training, concentration, mindset, that sort of thing.
Skills, skills based behind the wheel, all that.
And the thing that's been coming up more and more is this notion of motivation.
Because when I'm just working with a driver on any given weekend, whether HPD or competition or whatever it is, it's not, you don't really touch on motivation in terms of like what gets you motivated.
Like they're here to, they're about to go do the thing like they're it's, it's much less of a topic than the weekend week out drudge that can be training.
You're such a much better business than businessman than I would be because I would be the first thing I'd be like, so why are you here? Like, what are you doing? Oh no, we talk about that.
Well, isn't that, isn't that the, the, the crux, that beginning of motivation, like that's the core thing.
question that you base everything on
can be okay I talk a whole lot more about instead of like putting in terms of goals and motivation I talk about you know what are you here to do like what's what are you aiming to do what's your hope
okay
and kind of going from there and sometimes the drivers like they just want to get better at this one thing like whether it's awareness or um breaking or high speed turns like whatever it is like uh others obviously they're like they want to go and they want to win And then we have to kind of break that down into measurables and how can we...
But one of my favorite questions is still, what would success look like for you at the end of the weekend? And then work backwards from there.
Do people come in understanding that that's a motivation question? Fundamentally, what's driving you...
What's driving you... to even be here in the first place?
I, I mean, if I work with the driver long-term then yeah, that's a hundred percent would be something that we talk about.
Okay.
Um, if it's somebody, you know, that I'm just coaching for one day or one event, or maybe a couple of events that might not come up just because that's such a high level question that our time is kind of better off spent elsewhere.
