This is part two of one of the most in-depth conversations about the Book of Revelation you will find anywhere. Jimmy Evans and Dr. Mark Hitchcock, author of The Revelation Answer Book, pick up where…
Mark HitchcockGuestJimmy EvansHostWe, uh, we almost got finished with chapter nine last week, and this is, this is an important question 'cause in chapter nine, in verse 16, there's an army of 200 million, okay-
Okay, so the question that's always asked is, is that a literal army, or is that a demonic army?

You know, of course, 200 million is a huge number because that was probably the population of the world in John's day.

Now, you know, John didn't know that obviously, but that's probably, that was probably the whole population.

Um, but yeah, a lot of people have taken that over the years to be a human army.

Uh, they'll relate chapter nine there in Revelation over to chapter 16, where the kings of the east come in because in both chapters, the Euphrates River is mentioned.

You know, there's these four, four angels that are at the Euphrates River that are released that allow the 200 million to come forth.

Then over in Revelation 16, it mentions the Euphrates River being dried up to make way for the kings from the east.

So people that kind of make those parallel will say, well, the 200 million in chapter nine is the kings of the east in chapter 16, and so this is a, a human army.

I'll never forget years ago, the first time I, uh, read Dr. John Walvoord's commentary on Revelation.

Uh, there in that passage, he had a footnote from Time Magazine from 1966 that this was the first time in the world, world history, that there could be an army of 200 million.

And so he related that to a human army, to China, you know, because they have the m- this huge, uh, ability to ma- amass an army.

One is the, the previous trumpet, the fifth trumpet, clearly is a demonic army.
