So the short came out at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival and then he developed it into a full feature.

Which, curious that the feature did not premiere at Berlin and premiered at Sundance.

That's actually a really interesting point.

Because also Sundance is supposed to be about American film and this is a Filipino film.

That's so interesting, yeah.

I actually was surprised when I went to go see this at Film Forum.

Is that where you saw it too? That's the only place where it's played.

In New York.

But I feel like usually when you see a foreign film at Film Forum, it is not Sundance for me.

Yeah.

And so what do you, do you think that says something

about how Sundance is changing? No, I think it says something about Berlin, maybe not having, not nurturing its pipelines.

I feel like it can, if you premiere like a short or, or you premiere in like that director's fortnight you're pretty much a shoo-in for yeah the main

yeah the next time you have a film and i feel that's good pipeline development or whatever you call that yeah so it seems weird to me that berlin squandered that opportunity yeah i don't know what happened maybe it was a strategic move on their part because they wanted the american audience

that's true too Yeah, and they felt that it would get broader exposure to American audiences by premiering at Sundance.

Tactically, it

makes sense.

Except that I feel this movie is actually very European sensibilities.

For real.

And he went to film school in London, and a lot of the financing is European.

If you look in the beginning credits, it's also a million different European film funds and companies.

Right.

So it feels like it is... probably more geared or a better target would be european art house cinema so i don't know i mean is america the right target for that
