It's the most wonderful time of year. No, not finals. * * * Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It's been a minute, and I do believe that there's some news that came out of the C-grade touch world last weekend.
Was it one before? One before.
It was on Byron.
One before.
Yeah, one before.
Look, can I just say that the lead-up to the grand final was exceptional.
We had a great training session the week prior.
Did you play the boys the speech that I did on the show? no well okay so now we're now we're looking at where
to point the finger they'd probably listen to it because they do enjoy a bit of c-grade chat and i'll put it in the in the uh in the whatsapp group uh chat every every well say every week but you know when we record
every month or so this month's
episode and stuff like that but uh look we um we had a great breakfast on the day of the grand final and, um, it was pretty calm, pretty, uh, I was, I was really looking forward to the game.
And, um, as I said, the week prior, we, um, you know, unfortunately we didn't have Maddie Waters who, um, after scoring six drives in the, uh, in the qualifying final, then, um, went down with an injury refereeing the last A-grade game of the day that same weekend and fractured his ankle and tore ligaments and all the rest of it.
So he was in a moon boot.
And we...
So we took the field without our best player, most dangerous attacking player.
And in some ways, it showed.
But I will say...
The performance of our team against, you know, clearly the best team in the comp that's beaten everyone 10-1, 10-2 all year.
For us to go down, I think it was 6-3 in the end.
And we were, you could tell that they were starting to, think that we were we were a chance of getting them because they were starting to
it wasn't easy like it had been all year for them
correct and and you could tell because they weren't chirping at us they were chirping at each other
oh you like that and that's exactly that's what you said you want that's what you were trying to get
going you know there was so six three one of those you know two of those tries were um breaks through the middle with Leroy, who's, as I said before, just an elite sprinter.
And so other than that, we defended him really well the whole game.
