20. The True Cost of Living in Huntsville: What You Need to Know

So when people hear Alabama, I can tell you when I was moving here and I told people I lived in Colorado Springs and I was like, yeah, I'm moving to Alabama.

People were like, what? Alabama? So you got to get through that first.

But when people hear Alabama, they just assume everything is cheap.

And while Huntsville is still considerably more affordable than cities like Denver, Nashville, Austin, Seattle, or Southern California, well, duh, it's not the bargain city it was 10 years ago.

Huntsville has grown and home prices have increased.

We've had more restaurants get put in.

Insurance has increased.

Construction costs have increased.

But the good news is that you're generally getting much more house for your money than you would in many larger metro areas.

So I always tell clients, housing is obviously gonna be your biggest expense.

So let's talk about different budgets.

But before we do, I talk about this all the time, and I talk about the fact that Huntsville is just such a huge area, okay? So when you're moving here, I have people that send me, they're like, we wanna see all these houses.

They wanna see 30 houses.

And these houses are just all over the city.

And I'm like, A, you don't want to see 30 houses.

B, you don't want to see houses all over the city.

I mean, because every area has different vibes.

And I really, really, really preach this all the time.

If you are going to move here, have... a weekend where you come and you just drive around.

That's all you do.

I actually have a guide that will drive you around.

It literally will take you Google Map links from one part of the city to another to another.

I'll link it in the show notes.

But obviously, give me a call while you're here.

And I have people, I tell them, hey, just send me your location, like your iPhone location, right? Just do a share location for an hour.
