Above our heads, somewhere, is the sun.
Maybe you are listening to this during the day and you can feel its light.
For a moment, think of the journey of that light.
It has come to you from a star.
You are bathing in the light of a star.
Maybe it's the middle of the night, and you can see or imagine many more stars all around you.
So much light.
Such a long journey.
So much space and darkness too.
And then us.
The beautiful blue pearl bathing in the light of a star.
Our star.
Our home.
If it's a cloudy day, look up and see the streams of the sea in the air.
Drops that were once part of a body of grey and blue, unimaginably large and moving, now floating through the air, covering our Earth with streams of flying water.
One day, in some place, those clouds will fall, bringing this water to lands far away, or right here.
We can hold up our hand and study these drops and ask, where have you been? Where did you come from? Where will you go after this? On a cold day, the clouds turn into giant palaces of ice in the air.
And when those drops fall on a day like that, trillions of tiny castles, each one sculpted perfectly, each one shimmering in the air and blinking at the others, show us that this home of ours is alive and expresses itself in beauty.
Even the wind carrying these clouds to their new homes tells a story.
What if we imagined it to have color? Can you imagine streams of yellow or blue or red moving through the leaves of that tree? Can you imagine how it wraps itself around you and plays with your hair? There is so much to love in the world around us.
And none of it can be expressed fully in words.
It can only be felt.
Words can only be a sign pointing to what is home.
What is real.
What is alive.
