What happens when a close friendship changes because your lives suddenly take very different paths? In this deeply honest conversation on The Woman Within podcast, we explore **female friendship…
I think a good starting place for this conversation is just where, where friendships typically start.
Yeah.
Agreed.
And ours started through a lot of matchy-matchy, a lot of resonance, same-same journey.
Yep.
We were literally very close to each other in terms of our pregnancies, and I feel like we really bonded in the first year of motherhood-
Yeah
... because we were going through pretty much the same things, you know, a couple months after me, after you.
But yeah, and so it was a really big catalyst for us to, to create the foundation of our friendship.
And, um, yeah, I think that rings true for a lot of friendships and, you know, like proximity, you know? Like, who you are around in your day-to-day, like coworkers who it's just easy to see them often, and you can create that bond.
You know, like, that's where, um, Dr. Emily in, in the office, you know, when she started working for us, that's where our friendship grew.
Me and Ryan, your husband-
[laughs]
... that's where our friendship, you know, was and, and then, you know, when he worked remote and, you know, obviously you guys were having your baby together.
So it's just, like, interesting to reflect back on, I think, a lot of my friendships and I think for you too and see what was the framework of a friendship and which ones standed the test of time, you know? 'Cause, like, I have a couple, um...
I have one really good friend from childhood who I still, you know, very casually stay connected with, but stay connected with n- nonetheless.
And then I have a friend from college, one friend from college who, same.
But, you know, you have so many friends, whether they're deep relationships or not when you're growing up and in college and in, you know, your, um, early 20s.
And then, yeah, so it's really interesting to reflect outside of, you know, our ref- our relationship right now, which we will definitely get into more of the nuances of, like, where we've been at.
And, um, yeah, nav- navigating differentiation, but I feel like the same-same for building the foundation of friendships is typically how most of them start.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There's, like, a high degree of relatability-
Yes
