In this episode, I share some of my favourite volleyball games I've picked up while coaching with Nike Volleyball. These games keep players engaged, create healthy competition, and still reinforce…
So, uh, Nike came to me in the beginning of the year and, um, in Canada, uh, and they wanted to partner with me because, uh, I don't know if you guys know, but Nike's trying to, you know, get involved in the volleyball space quite a bit, especially in, you know, it's growing significantly in North America.
I mean, the women's side is unbelievable with all the pro leagues and things like that.
And, you know, I'm, I'm an ambassador for the game, and, uh, I, I, you guys know I work a lot with volleyball coaches around North America and, and the world.
And for me, I- I'm, I'm really passionate about the education side piece of, of the game.
So I've been working with them to r- to run their Nike volleyball camps over the summer, uh, here in Canada.
I ha- I've, I've had experience with them in the past, but it's been a while since I've been involved in running and organizing a camp.
I, and I might do an entire episode on what I found to be the, the, the secret sauce or the, the right way to structure a volleyball camp because it's n- it's different than a, than a clinic.
You know, it's different than if your players are coming, and you're training, and you're, you're really focused on the result base because camps don't work that way.
But what I loved about running these volleyball camps is, you know, it got, it, it got, it, it got me going in terms of my creativity on what I can do to make the athletes have fun in different ways.
You know, we've done, you know, like six on six and have, and modify volleyball to make it fun.
We have different fun games we've done in, in, in, in, like, warm-up, which I've mentioned on the podcast before.
But with a camp where you're there all day, you have to be able to create opportunity for them to just Not play volleyball or play in a different way where they're just having a blast.
And I got a chance to work with some great coaches, some f- uh, some, you know, former and current college players, and it was a bl- it was a blessing in disguise getting a chance to learn from them too, and seeing the games that they were doing on their courts.
So I just wanted to bring it to the podcast and share with you guys a couple things you guys can do in your gyms, whether this is in season, out of season, it doesn't matter.
And some of these things, like, it's funny, I'm thinking about some of these games that me- I saw them do with little kids, and I'm like, "I could, I could do this with my college guys." It, it really doesn't matter as l- as, as long as it's fun.
