No Wasted Reps: Lessons From A Professional Team Practice

I mean, we're looking at some new, new tech in, in the volleyball space lately.

Um, and the, the latest one I've come across...

Actually, there's a couple, but the latest one that I've come across has been this, uh, video breakdown software called Tavo.

I think the company's called Tavo Sports.

And, you know, you guys know me on the pod.

I've al- I'm always interested in, in new ways to make our, our jobs easier as volleyball coaches and just, you know, if there's any efficient or cheaper options and things like that.

And I will say, like, I was a user of BallTime, and still am, quite frankly, for so long, and BallTime has really been the only player in the game for video breakdown AI.

And they've c- they've probably owned that space for the last two years.

Um, and I guess before I say this, in case you don't know what video breakdown is, just really f- give me 30 seconds.

Video breakdown software is, first of all, every coach should consider it and budget for it.

But basically, imagine uploading a match or a practice or some kind of volleyball film, and the software, whether it's done by a human or whether it's done by AI, breaks down the film and tags every action that occurs in the video and makes it searchable.

So imagine you, after you...

Instead of watching, like, a two-hour match where you may wanna see just passing or just attacking, you can filter this match video out to see exactly what you wanna see.

So let's say you have one, one of your players who, uh, you wanna go back and look at them and see how well they attack the ball.

Well, instead of searching through the whole, like going through the whole video to see every time they attack, you would click the player, you would press attack, and then it would only show you those clips where the player attacked the ball.

So that's, that's the power of video breakdown software, and it's gotten so good now where it even will record the stats for you.

So you could go into the stats of the match and then hit, hit...

Like, let's say you wanted to see, I don't know, the kill.

You notice in o- in the stats, oh, you know, your number one had five kills, two errors on 10 attempts.

And you're like, "Wait a minute.

Two errors.

Let's cl- I wanna go see where those two errors were." Well, guess what? You click the two errors and it takes you to those two errors that happened in the video.

So it just, it just saves you so much time, and it's so much of, uh, an efficient way of looking at film.

That- that's one of the things I, I love about it.
