What if your offense could consistently create 1 on 0's without relying on predetermined play calls? In this episode, I break down the Motion Offense, an advanced offensive system that has been used…
So the point guard is coming up the floor and he's not calling a play for the team to execute.
Motion offense in basketball is when- Every player knows the, the route they have to cut, the lanes they have to fill.
Um, you know, they ha- they know their roles and we, when we move the ball until...
There's no set play, it's just everybody knows their job, they know the philosophy behind it.
They know how to cut to the, to the lane and what lanes to fill and things like that, and then it works.
Volleyball has a style of motion offense where we attack the gaps in the net in volleyball.
But we're not necessarily attacking what the defense is giving us, 'cause the defense is, they're on the other side of the net.
But we're attacking and exploiting the gaps on our side that we can based on the pass that comes over.
So let's, let's start by understanding a couple things with motion offense in volleyball.
First, the most effective way to run a motion offense is with an effective pipe attack.
So if you're a team that does not have the ability to run a pipe attack, that's not to say you can't run this motion offense or at least a variation of this motion offense, but you're not gonna be able to run it as effective as you'd like if you had a pipe attack.
Like, the philosophy is, if you think about, uh, the block, right? There's always gonna be a blocker on the left side attacker.
There's always gonna be a blocker on the right side attacker, in theory, right? Like, I'm not, I'm not getting into customized blocking systems.
But in the middle of the floor, there's only one middle blocker, and that middle blocker is responsible for blocking the middle of the floor, which is a lot of area.
They're responsible for blocking the middle attack and any other attack that's ran down the middle of the floor, which is also pipe.
