In this episode, I walk coaches through how to plan their season from a macro perspective using the phases of the game and system design to guide your roadmap. You'll see how some of the best coaches…
Now, today's training is called Roadmap to a Championship based on the phases of the game as well as system design.
So I'm gonna walk you through a roadmap that you can implement in your program so that you can get a good, like, macro idea of what, what...
I've, I've normally taught, you know, the YTP, your yearly training plan, where in the beginning of the season, you work on these skills, and then as you get more and more, you work on these skills.
So it's always been a skill-based approach to planning, which, again, isn't wrong.
But on a, on an overall, like, scale or an overall phase, what I've learned this year specifically is we can plan for a championship in a different way in terms of let's look at the game, and let's see what exactly do we need to, do we need to take from this game? Like, what do we as a team need to do really well to win based on the game itself, not necessarily based on the skill? And then we take this roadmap, and then we apply the skills where it needs to be applied.
Okay? So I'm gonna start this off for you guys by saying, okay, the very first thing you have to have, you have to have in your roadmap to a championship are three aspects.
If they're, if they get phased easily when, when, when the pressure's on, if they make a mistake and it derails them for an entire set, big problem.
Are they lifting? Are they getting stronger? Now, if you're teaching younger kids, don't worry about the physical as much.
Um, but if you're teaching older athletes, well, what are we doing? Okay, the strength training is huge.
And this is where I wanna make sure that they let you know, let us know, coaches, what's going on.
