This week on The Ungraded Truth, we talk talk about PSA Spider-Man outselling CGC, Marvel Card Craziness & The Donruss Fomo. We also discuss how Cooper Flagg Bounties are out of control as well as…
But guys, we have to get into our lead story for tonight, which was of course the PSA AF 15 7.0 sale that just happened on golden auctions a few days ago.
Uh, in our previous show, we had set up this conversation of, you know, this being one of the more expensive, uh, PSA comic books that has maybe hit market.
And this, uh, being set up at golden was going to be a really interesting thing to watch now to set the conversation even a little bit further.
Um, We were all speculating that maybe this was going to underperform because in previous auctions, we've been seeing that PSA comics like the Giant Size X-Men ones and the more fun comics and things of that nature have been underselling CGC.
Well, that did not happen with this particular book where the AF-15 sold for $149.
thousand three hundred dollars this is the most expensive af15 7.0 that is sold in the last four years or so uh the previous cgc 70 was around 115 000 and the previous cgc 75 was like 144 000 so this one outperforming that guys i want to kind of Before we continue to unpack the story and talk about the big mads that we all saw across the comment sections, what was your initial reaction to this? And maybe more importantly, why do you think that this sale got this figure? Is this a result of the times that we're in where it's a collectible bull market? Is this feeling the tailwind of Spider-Man Brand New Day? Or is there some other factor going on? Let me kick it out to you guys.
What did you guys think about the sale?
I think it was a combination of the movie, a little bit of Golden, a little bit of Rich Dude, a little bit of...
It was a really nice copy.
And you kind of throw all that into a vat, and I think this is kind of what you get.
I'll say I was very surprised by the number, especially given...
I mean...
So Golden did have the big Superman 1 sale, and so that really outperformed a CGC book.
So it does seem like...
I think I talked about this on a video I did.
And we've said this.
We've got card collectors that... seem to largely go to golden and they see PSA as the premium.
And if you've got a card, someone who's a, a more of a card collector kind of getting into comics and from just from looking at, you know, the person who bought this, you know, we know they commented on that post.
So they posted about it.
They do seem to be more into cards than comics.
And they transferred that to the comic side.
It's hard to say for sure.
I mean, I've commented on this, that I do think that, it's probably not a repeatable sale and that it could be like, you just, as long as you're not planning on selling it right away, it's like, who cares? You know, like if you're not thinking that, You've got to flip this thing right away or you have a need to move it right away.
It really doesn't matter that much.
