This week on The Ungraded Truth, we talk talk about long lines at The Nations. Give a review of the biggest news from SDCC including Ryan Gosling playing Ghost Rider We also discuss Donruss Marvel…
We gotta get into our lead story, which was, of course, The National, the greatest sports card show in the nation.
The 46th edition of it just occurred out there in Illinois, and there was a lot of stories that actually came out of this.
Uh, you know, before, uh, I got the show started, I was thinking to myself, "Well, maybe I could kind of, you know, do a little search on X and see kind of what the vibes were for the show," since I myself wasn't there.
And I noticed that a couple people, you know, were just saying positive things.
Like, this user Michaela said, "My thoughts on the Na- National, the energy was great or... and it was incredible." This person said, "I thought The National was a good show." And then we get over to this third user here, Neo, who's just complaining about the lines.
[laughs] Whee.
So, um, you know, the, uh, the collecting curmudgeon just complaining about lines, but he wasn't the only one.
Because over on Sports Card Investors Instagram, he also made a post, uh, talking about lines, and this was a video I think got, like, 500,000 views or something like that.
But, uh, let me kinda just table it right there.
Uh, Rob, we can kinda get into all of the happenings and the stories, including some of your pickups.
But, uh, why don't you kinda just break down your weekend for us.
Give us the top overview of your feeling of The National.
How was the show?
Uh, packed.
Uh, I belie- they haven't formally announced the... or at least I haven't seen, but I believe this will be the all-time largest crowd ever for this show, which it has been every year the last couple of years.
It keeps jumping.
Um, the building that they have it in is not capable of handl- handling that show anymore.
Uh, that's part of what leads to that line.
That line, the, the outside line, went, like, at least almost a mile down the street.
There was a general admission line prior to the show opening up, 'cause they don't have a good way to, like, queue people in.
Uh, out there it's just one long ass line that goes all the way down the sh- the, the road.
And, uh-
So do they, do they not have anything that, like, serpentines it or anything like that?
No. No.
