Our story takes place in the far future of humanity, in the year 5016 U. Humankind has taken to the stars in vast numbers.
A majority of humanity exists in the core worlds, with Earth and the soul system at its center.
Lifespans stretch further and further than could possibly be imagined by today's standards, from everything from food, shelter, medicine, and even body parts are available for free to print on demand.
But for those countless lives that live outside of these core worlds, humanity suffers as it always has.
For the core world's resources cannot reach outside of their sphere of influence, leaving five corporations to, and their subsidiaries to bring the logistics required to these otherwise separated pockets of humanity to fruition.
One such pocket where our story takes place, in the small system of Var, which spins far outside of the heavenly boundaries of the core worlds.
There, many corporations have spent lifetimes extorting and abusing laborers whose efforts have afforded many surrounding systems with raw resources in vast abundance.
In recent years, the working class folk of the system decided to collectivize their efforts to seize control over the corporately owned and oppressively dominant owners of the system.
As such, they formed the Union of Var to try and mobilize resources and people for strikes.
Quickly, an avalanche of support and solidarity poured out across the sector, forcing the corporations in power to call upon a union busting paramilitary group called the Hand of Thorns, who have been quickly dispatched to crack down on the Union of Var in a corporately mandated martial law.
Thus, a rebellion broke out as the Union of Var armed themselves and brought a mercenary team of pilots called Lancers into the war effort.
These Lancers are, a- aboard their mechanized titans, are known locally as the Warriors of the Sun, and after many battles with the Union, or alongside the Union of Var, they have become legends within the local sector, as well as enemies number one for the Hand of Thorns.
Now, after the Warriors of the Sun have thwarted much of the Hand of Thorns' best efforts to kill the Union of Var, the Hand of Thorns now brings a terrible sight to the war.
A great machine of death, a massive capital ship with a terrifying nuclear arsenal that can level mountains with ease.
This ship, called the Ever conquest, is now en route to the Union of Var's main headquarters to end the hopes of this rebellion once and for all, and to defeat them in this war.
And at this desperate hour, here we begin our story.
