Um, first off, like, the reason why we started thinking about talking about this was because we...

I mean, the mental side is such a huge side and component of ultra racing, and I mean, the physical side, of course, is, um, a huge part of it.

But mentally, we talk a lot about and kind of get into the weeds about, like, what we're thinking while we're on the trails for so long, right? So there's a period of time sometimes where you're talking to people and you're kind of shooting the breeze, and you're just chatting while you're on the trails, but there's a lot of time, um, spent in your head and solo-

And one of the things we were talking to one of your friends about this weekend was that, like, it's, um, such a rare thing this day and age to be somewhere where you are, you know, you have, like, no real noise-

... no real light, no sound, no stimulation coming at you, no input from all these different areas, where you can really be alone with your thoughts and yourself and be, like, in the present moment, right?

And so we talked about a little bit, you know, what are our essentials and what kind of goes through our head when we're running the trails.

I thi- [laughs] I think there's, um, the, uh, some benefits that are often not spoken about-

And I think the, the simplicity of being in your own mind is, is such a wonderful gift.

And it's, um, it's something that not a lot of the general population gets to experience.
