But, yeah, so today we're going to talk about the rise of trail running and just what we have kind of – notice what we're seeing what tells us that trail running is rising in popularity the sport has really kind of taken a turn um recently as far as like um you know just it being more mainstream i feel like and so it used to be what kind of spread the conversation is it used to be something at least for me when i would talk about trail running even a few years ago More often than not, people would be like, I don't know, like, what is that or what are you doing? Like, I mean, it's in the name.

And so but now we find that like it's pretty hard to, you know, in certain groups to talk about trail running and find a person who.

at least doesn't know someone else who does it or has done an ultra or someone themselves who, who hasn't like at least dabbled in that.

I've seen a lot as far as like pop culturey stuff to really indicate trail runnings kind of grown in popularity.

Yeah, I know I don't have as much of a background in trail running, so for me it's harder to know.

I haven't been exposed to it for as long, so I haven't really seen it grow for more than a year and a half.

Had I heard about the trail running ultra scene before? Yeah, I had, but I wasn't around it, so I didn't really get to have a great idea of what it entailed or how many people were interested in it.

But for me, I think it's in the last year and a half alone, I've seen a lot of things that would indicate to me that there's interest increasing in the sport and that there's growth associated with the sport.

The pieces that I've been more aware of and that I'm seeing are kind of at the local level.

And I know there's a big piece that's more global in nature that you'll talk about after that.

But for me, where I'm seeing it is in our local community and at local races in and around Alberta.

And yeah, it's one of those things that you can't help but see because we are active.
