**50 episodes. One year. And eight words that could change a life.** For the one-year anniversary of The Survival Project, I wanted to reflect on one of the most important lessons this podcast has…

I started this podcast to be a collaborative guide to share their experience and knowledge that no matter what health issue came up or if someone was navigating, there'd be someone's experience that they could learn from.

The future is uncertain, and depending on the severity, you don't know if you're going to be alive much longer, or if it's not life-threatening, you actually don't know what quality of life you'll have.

But whatever level of burden, it can always be eased by listening to someone who's been there before.

They've shared so openly, and I feel privileged to sit down and talk to everyone.

No story is the same, but they all have one thing in common, and that is grit.

Just my opinion, but the dictionary defines grit as a person's mental courage and stubborn determination to keep going through hard times.

And some of the people that I've interviewed should have been crushed by what they experienced.

And I'll tell you, none of them felt resilient or inspiring when they were going through it.
