Ep 51: Behind the Mic: Emily Ehman on Wrigley's Wild Night, Title Frontrunners & Bowling Glory

Linds, we're back from Chicago from the first ever, potentially only ever game at Wrigley Field.

I got a little bit, uh, hoarse being out there.

My voice is a little bit gone, but it was so amazing.

What did you think about the overall experience?

I mean, it was so special.

I know people are waking up today feeling disappointed and sad at the, you know, the Nebraska-M- Mizzou game being canceled, but I gotta say, even regardless of that, it was such a fun event, and the energy was incredible.

I don't know what it was like s- watching it on TV, but being in the arena, like, I walked in and had goosebumps.

Like, I- my family's from Chicago, I've been to Wrigley so many times for Cubs games, but to be there for volleyball was just so special, and I loved, I really loved every minute of it until they had to say we had to suspend the second game.

[laughs]

But, um, it was really just, it was a magical moment.

Yeah.

This is actually my first time ever at Wrigley Field, and so it was pretty cool that it was for volleyball.

I thought it was a really magical experience, but I will say I don't think anybody had a better view of the madness than our guest today, who was right there on the call for Fox, breaking down every single moment.

Now, if you follow women's volleyball at all, you know that our guest's passport is currently working overtime.

Over the past few months alone, she touched down in Thailand covering the world's best at the VNLs, called the season kickoff in Milwaukee at the AVCA First Serve, survived the humidity at Wrigley, and next week she's packing her sunscreen to meet me down in the Bahamas for the Paradise Invitational, all on top of her relentless Big Ten and national broadcast schedule.

She's a former Northwestern libero who knows the back row grind inside and out, a proud member of a local bowling league, someone who understands the rules of backgammon, a fearless adventurer who hikes national parks on her rare days off, and truly the undisputed pulse of collegiate volleyball media.

If a ball is being served anywhere on the planet, chances are she's already at the broadcast desk breaking down rotation efficiency before the referee even blows the whistle.
