One little boy was trying to describe the difference between Mother's Day and Father's Day to his friend.

He said, Father's Day is just like Mother's Day, only you don't spend as much.

And that's true.

As a country, we will spend $35 billion on Mother's Day, but only $22 billion on Father's Day.

So moms get 56% higher kind of value.

Why y'all laughing? And rightfully so.

But let me tell some dads in this house, you matter today.

You matter today.

Matter.

Mark Twain's famous observation has endured through generations.

He said, when I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.

But when I turned 21, I was astonished by how much he had learned in just seven years.

Brantley, one day, bro.

One day you're going to be like, hey, that old man was wise.

But to every father, every husband in this room, who's striving to lead with integrity, who is present and engaged, who is advancing the kingdom of God, and who is faithfully passing down God's word to your family, today we want you to know you matter.

Your prayers matter, your example matters, your consistency matters, the conversations you have around the dinner table, they matter.

The way you love your wife matters.

The way you point your children toward Christ, it matters.
