Hello and welcome to episode 20 of the Resilient Dance Teacher podcast.
I am so stoked for today's episode, which will actually be part one of two in a discussion with Brandon Coleman.
Brandon is a New York City-based choreographer, educator, and performer.
He is a former cast member and rehearsal director for Punch Drunk's Sleep No More in NYC and has worked with companies including Visceral Dance Chicago, Kegwin & Company, The Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Vim Vigor Dance Company, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
Brandon currently leads classes at Steps on Broadway and Perry Dance in New York City, and he has been commissioned by various contemporary companies and universities all across the country.
In addition to his studio work, he also hosts the Breaking the Wall podcast, which provides tools and advice for early career and pre-professional dancers.
He graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA in dance and a BA in communication, and he was awarded Alumni of the Year in 2026 for the College of Fine Arts.
We had such a wonderful conversation about numerous elements of the dance world, including early career, navigating connections, and becoming a dance teacher inspired by those who shape our individual journeys.
I'm so excited to introduce part one of this two-part series with Brandon.
Let's get into it.
