Yeah, thanks for joining us.
Now, look, tell us about the Junior Builders Program and what it aims to achieve.
Junior Builders is a new school holiday program for 6 to 15-year-olds to give them a bit of a taste of what life would be like as a construction worker generally, but as a carpenter in particular.
Yeah, wow.
And so, I mean, 6 is quite young because that's almost progressing from plastic hammers into the real thing, isn't it? Yes.
not just handing a nail gun to a six-year-old, are you?
And the program's broken up into little chunks so kids actually get to build something for themselves across the days or if they're only coming for one half day.
And they're things like toolboxes, birdhouses, dollhouses, cutting boards, um planter boxes and and even a paper and a stepping stone so it's it's really cool and kids will actually get to take those home with them
i was going to say not only do they get to build this and design it and work on it and think about it they've got something at the end that they can take home to their loved ones so good
yeah it's excellent um and uh and i love that you guys are getting kids you know involved in this is it hard to attract younger people into you know building trades
One, kids have had no exposure to construction, so that's exactly why in school holidays at younger ages, at that kind of pre-workforce age, it's important to give them a bit of a taste of what a hands-on job really looks like, because a lot of people really enjoy it to their surprise.
And the second thing is to educate parents because parents are often the biggest barrier to kids taking on board an apprenticeship.
So I guess for us, if they can see their children engaging in this great program, coming into Master Builders, understanding what that learning environment's like, understanding what the industry's like, that's really, really important for us.
And I guess from what it sounds like, they're not just learning construction skills.
Yeah, thanks for joining us.
