So today I have with me Dr. Katie Fields, who is a therapist and the founder of Count Soling.

Now, Katie is the bestselling author of You Can Say Fuck, in quotes, in here, Stories from the Couch.

And Katie's book was published by SoulPurposePublishing.com, as well as it achieved number one bestseller in various categories.

So Katie, I'm sure that everyone, you know, who's listening, their ears perked up when they heard the term counseling.

Can you explain how you got to that term? What inspired you to create counseling?

I don't really know what, where, how, but, um, these things happen with words sometimes with me, like I'll just like get a word and it's like, oh, I hear something differently.

And so I heard counseling with counseling instead of counseling as it had been.

And then it got me pondering what, well, what would be counseling versus counseling? And so then I started to understand like, What I have been doing and what I've been trained in as a therapist has been to basically help people have a stronger, more appropriate ego in life to life better, I guess, in terms of this physical plane and this material world.
what I want to do.

I don't want to help ego get stronger and be more dominant and pervasive in someone's life.

I'd actually rather help people relax ego and allow their soul to lead and to guide them and to shine through.

And I'm not of the mind that ego has to go away or we transcend and leave ego in the dust I actually think soul and ego can work really well together I'm of the mind that we actually cannot get rid of ego because ego is of this world and while we're in this world we have to navigate through ego
And for me, ego isn't

What I write about, and you can say fucking here, is basically how ego has learned to protect you really strongly and develops these patterns and ways of being that create an automatic you that is not the real you.

So the you that is showing up is a reflex, something that has been conditioned over time.

And so counseling is all about recognizing that conditioning and then working to decondition so that you can allow your soul to be more present and hopefully become soul-led.

Yeah, that is really quite a, how will I say it? Quite a pivot from counseling where, yeah, and I absolutely love it.
