Your business has been tracking developments on the market and has more in this report.
The auction, which was carried out on Tuesday, was done under the newly developed SpotFX sales intermediation program.
According to Gold Board, the support has been structured in a way that ensures the Forex sales will take place twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with participating banks submitting requests during a designated sales window.
Joy Business understands this auction will be operated under the regulatory oversight of the Bank of Ghana, which will have real-time access to the Goldboard GoFX platform.
Goldboard will also provide transaction reports to the central bank after each sale.
It is not clear for now whether Gold Board has been able to meet all the demands coming from the commercial banks, especially at a time the city has come under some pressure.
Meanwhile, the World Bank has ranked the Ghana city as the worst performing currency in Africa for the second quarter of this year.
The report says the city recorded a cumulative depreciation of a little over 10% against the US dollar, the highest among 23 African countries tracked by the World Bank for the period ending August 2026.
Meanwhile, the Bank of Ghana has attributed the recent pressure on the city to increase demand for dollars by businesses.
