The Graham Platner Allegations and Why The Progressive Movement Needs To Reflect- ft. Hunter Dunn

Basically, what I wanted to talk about today was not just the Graham Blattner.

I shouldn't say just.

These are horrific allegations that are extremely disqualifying.

I mean, I don't think there's a whole lot to say about unlike the commentary end, other than he should step down and step down immediately.

There's going to be a lot of people that talk about...

Here, I'll share the screen here while I'm doing this.

That talk about electoral implications, that talk about... whether or not they think, you know, what this is going to do for the, the movement on flipping the Senate and things of that nature.

And I just, I gotta be honest, like this is so far beyond that.

I think if like you're debating the support for a rapist or the fallout electorally of a rapist, rather than the fact that there were numerous red flags on this guy, there were numerous red flags from the get go for months on end on his character and, There was already some allegations of violence.

Certainly allegations of being a part of a horrific war crime private mercenary group.

There's a whole list of things we can go over.

People have talked about this endlessly.

This guy's been talked about nonstop from everywhere from Fox News to fucking streamers.

There's been a lot of streamers and YouTube commentators that have really put their social capital into supporting this guy.

And I got to be honest, I never really bought into it.

I'm not saying that as a holier-than-thou thing.

There's been other people that I have liked, maybe not from a voting end of things.

I'm not in Maine anyway, so I'm not voting.

But from a Senate or representative or presidential side of things that I've supported in one way or another before.

And gotten burnt, right? Like, I mean, there's people like Noam Chomsky, who is a huge, I was a huge fan of when I was getting into politics that burned a lot of us when it came to horrific allegations that are being connected to Epstein, all those kinds of things.

All that to say, I think all of us have definitely to varying degrees supported people that have burned you on principle.

But that being said, my main thing that I... have been taking away from this is that people really, really, really will wear blinders when they like someone's policies.

I mean, I think it's unquestionable that this is the most horrific allegation, the most detailed allegation that's come out about this guy, but I think it should cause a lot of people to reflect on exactly what they are willing to support and what they're willing to put their public facing organization show you know whatever the case may be behind somebody with an already problematic past I'm not again I'm not sitting here from a place of saying that I that I'm better you know I that's not what I want to get into that's an annoying drama slot for the internet but I do think it's worth noting that it it was this is this is a huge detriment to i think the electoral aspect of like the left-wing movement i just don't know what to say other than a lot of reflection has to come from people that are invested in progressive politics on the electoral front because this guy had every red flag And people were not only supporting him and saying, yes, he's got a checkered past, but I like his policies or I like the movement that's being built, the grassroots movement, all those different things.

They were honestly and openly like being arrogant about how much they wanted to support this person.

You know, being aggressive towards listeners on various shows that would voice their concerns.
