A powerful, story of a strong mum in an intense situation for her first birth. Danielle is not traumatized by this birth experience, in fact she is pleased to share about all that went right for her…
Do you want to take us back, Danielle, and tell us, was there a conception journey at all?
There wasn't really.
So my husband and I obviously had chatted about it.
My husband was very keen to start having children pretty much right after, before we even got to the honeymoon.
Before we even said I do, he was keen.
And I was probably a lot more on the fence because of that.
Like, you know, having a child changes everything, you know? And somebody who's pretty active myself and just...
always on the go.
I knew that having a kid would change the structure of our day and our routine and everything a lot because it's not about you anymore.
And so I think I was quite nervous to have a child.
I knew that it would probably be good for me because it would teach me to be less selfish.
Yeah.
And so there was no conception.
We just had a chat and part of like had been You know, we'd been married for almost four years at this point.
And my husband was ready, growing impatient, you might say.
So part of our negotiation was that, you know, we would stop using contraceptive.
And it's funny, actually, because when I'd asked my doctor about it, I'd been on it for a very long time, oral contraceptive.
And I thought, you know, maybe it might take a while.
For context, I'm 32 years old.
So I'm not young, young, but I'm not old either.
But I've been on it for probably, I want to say about 16 years.
So it's quite a long time to be taking contraceptives.
So I had anticipated it taking a while to flesh out my system.
So for people who are curious, it took... less than two months.
And my doctor told me that it actually is quite hard to get pregnant.
