Moff and I catch up after the 1st preseason game of the year as well as look ahead to poster night vs Canton for the final preseason game this week.
I thought the guy, I thought we got better as the game went on, which is, you know, pretty, pretty common, especially when you have a lot of young guys playing their first game.
I thought we kind of made some selfish plays at times, not in a bad way, but we shot the puck when we should have passed it.
I think that's a little bit kind of typical of guys kind of feeling themselves out and what to expect.
I thought we had the puck most of the time in the third period and kind of wore them down a little bit.
And I think that if we're going to be successful, we're going to have to do that or try to do that with teams, run four lines and play 60 or 70 and 13 forwards, whatever the setup may be, and just try to kind of wear teams down with some depth.
Yeah, I thought you played a lot of speed for sure.
You know, from my view at ice level, I thought it was definitely evident as the game went on.
It seemed like there was a little bit more pep in the step, like I said, in the third period.
But you mentioned, you know, kind of maybe passing when you should have shot or vice versa, but...
With 32 kids, were those the lines that you sort of envisioned going forward? Or is this like, hey, we're trying to get everyone some ice time, so you mix and match a little bit more?
We were trying to get maybe some pairings together, like two out of the three guys, trying to work that way a little bit.
It's difficult right now because there's some good pairings, and then you see another pairing with the same guy, and you're like, oh, maybe that will work.
So that'll be a challenge for us in the next, whatever, 10, 12 days to figure out what we want to do with our lineup.
And Saturday will be another, you know, a really good test and a defining moment for us as who might play in Friday night.
Not that if you play well Saturday, you're definitely in because we have four practices, but it certainly can't hurt.
