Is becoming a Physical Therapist worth it?

if you are on TikTok, then you have probably seen a specific video circulating about this one physical therapist talking about that it's not worth it becoming a physical therapist and that you can just become like a personal trainer or like certified strength and conditioning like coach or trainer.

And Originally, when I saw this video, I was like, I understand what you're saying, but I fully disagree.

And then I started seeing other people's TikToks in response to that video as well.

And like so many other people disagreeing as well.

Obviously, you're going to get both sides of the spectrum.

But like, I don't know, we figured we would just dedicate a whole episode to this because we both have so much to say.

Yeah, I feel like out of all like healthcare professionals, I feel like I see so much negativity around our profession.

And I don't want people to get scared away because our profession is so amazing.

And we kind of wanted to compare and kind of talk about some things today because we want to just put out some good energy out there for those of you that are thinking about this career because...

I have no regrets.

So a lot of things that people bring up, and I've heard this since I started physical therapy, even before I started physical therapy, was the income debt ratio.

So we both went to Northwestern.

And for those of you that don't know, Northwestern is a private school in Chicago.

And when we started school, like total, it was about $150,000.

And I have a twin sister that did the same exact degree, has her DPT, works as a physical therapist.

She went to University of Illinois in Chicago for comparison, which is a public school.

And it was half the price.

So it was around 90K.

So, yeah, it's just I think tuition is something to consider when you are looking at programs.

But it's not the only thing that you need to consider.

feel like I have so many mixed thoughts and like I can go in so many different directions with this.

But I feel like if people are currently looking at physical therapy schools and want to do physical therapy but are really scared about that cost, like don't go to a school that costs over like $100,000.
